    I had a client call me telling me that they had a large bookcase that they didn't know what to do with. I thought, ok this will be just a simple styling job. When I walked into this loft, we both started laughing at the monstrosity of this 17 foot high built-in bookcase. The client had filled maybe the first 3 shelves with various books and accessories that she already owned, but the rest of was up to me to decide what to do with it.     This was one of my favorite projects to work on because it honestly felt the most "me" compared to any of the others so far. I designed this for a young family in Studio City, CA with two kids under the age of 5 and a dog. They wanted their home to be comfortable, casual, but fun.     Ways to Style a Bookcase

    I am one of those people who likes to rearrange my bookcase multiple times before I land on a layout that I truly love. The nice thing about it is that you can always add to it or move it around whenever you'd like. It is one of my favorite things to tackle when I'm styling a client's home.     Tile is one of my favorite things to shop for. There are so many beautiful options out there and it can totally jazz up the space with great texture while still adding a naturalistic element. It can either dress up the space or bring it down a little bit - both can totally make the space depending on the vibe you're going for.
