This was a full remodel of a very outdated Craftsman kitchen for a young couple in Highland Park, Los Angeles. We initially wanted to tear out a wall and open it up into the breakfast room, but when the walls were opened up, we received an unfortunate surprise that this entire portion of the house did not have any studs. I have no clue how it stayed up all these years. Since stability was an issue that we had to address, we decided to keep the kitchen smaller and add the necessary structural support. In the end, the cozy nature of this kitchen ended up suiting the house perfectly.
